To coordinate and effectively manage research activities in the University and affiliated colleges
Mision
To facilitate and contribute to research activities in all disciplines so that they can lead to quality publications, innovations, research grants, and intellectual properties by faculty members, students, and staff of the University. Further strengthening of Academia-industry collaborative research to address the local and regional problems.
Objectives
- To identify the priority research areas based on the expertise available in the University.
- To promote scientific temper in research.
- To seek research grants from different funding agencies.
- To provide adequate infrastructural support for conducting research activities.
- To initiate collaborative research and accordingly sign MoUs with Universities/Institutions of repute.
- To frame the research policy of the University.
- To provide adequate support for the protection of Intellectual Property resulting from the research activities carried out in the University.
- To monitor the research activities at regular time intervals.
- Linking teaching-research-extension activities.
Activities
- All the research-related work will be carried out through this cell.
- All the Ph.D. scholar’s research files including the conduction of the Research Entrance Examination and admission will be carried out through the cell.
- All the five coordinators’ committees will work independently under the administrative and financial control of the Director.
- An Assistant Registrar will be associated as the Secretary of the committees.
- The Research and development cell (RDC) will facilitate resource mobilization and create corpus funds for the proper functioning of the cell.
- It will frame a draft proposal for the constitution of “Research Advisory Council (RAC)” of the University.
- It will assist in framing and implementing of University Research Policy
- It will assist in signing MOUs with Universities/Institutions of Eminence and will create a conducive environment for promoting collaborative activities.
- It will regularly conduct and monitor the meetings of research advisory committees.
- It will be associated with monitoring the progress report of Ph.D. scholars six-monthly.
- It will also monitor the research project proposal submission, implementation, and progress.
- It will be involved with the screening of proposals for conducting seminars/symposiums/conferences/ workshops/ scientific meetings/brainstorming sessions submitted by different departments/faculties.
- It will also assist in the purchase of instruments/ chemicals / other miscellaneous items sanctioned in research projects awarded to faculty members, students, and staff.
- It will regularly compile a research compendium yearly to highlight the significant achievements of the University in research and innovations.
- It will also assist in formulating relevant ordinances for carrying out research activities in the University and affiliated colleges.
- It will develop a mechanism for awarding the best researchers (faculty members, students, or staff) yearly to the University.
- It will develop a mechanism for checking plagiarism for any research papers, reviews, books, and thesis submitted by the faculty members and students in the University to maintain integrity and ethics in research.
- It will be inclined to promote research activities to fulfill the mandates of various National Missions, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Start-Up India leading to a Self-reliant India (Atma-Nirbhar Bharat).
- It will work on creating awareness about intellectual property rights issues and will facilitate IPR protection for the innovators (faculty members/ students).
- It will develop a Research Information Management System (RIMS) for the benefit of faculty, students, industry, and other stakeholders.
- It will also facilitate the establishment of a Research and Development Cell in the affiliating colleges of DDU Gorakhpur University.
