The Foundation stone of Department of Home Science was laid by our visionary Prime Minister Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi on 11th November 1983. She was a strong supporter of innovative development and gave this Department as a boon to the eastern belt of Uttar Pradesh for upliftment of society on the whole and women in particular. The UGC and the State Government readily came out with financial help for the development of infrastructure and basic facilities in the Department.
The Department is running B.Sc. Home Science and B.A. Home Science degree programme and post-graduation in Resource Management and Foods and Nutrition. The courses taught in the Department broadly cover areas of Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles, Resource Management,Human Development and Family Studies and Extension Education.
Dr. Divya Rani Singh, Professor & Head of the Department has to her credit seven books, contributed two chapters in two books,presented and published more than 70 papers at national and international level, completed one project on child labour funded by Ministry of labour,attended various workshops, refresher course, gave talk on television on social issues. Apart from this, two new faculties have joined, Dr Anupama Kaushik,M.Sc., Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition. She is an alumni of NDUAT, Faizabad and Institute of Home Science, Agra. She joined in the Department as an Assistant Professor and has 07 research papers and 02 books. Dr. Neeta Singh, M.Sc., Ph.D. in Clothing and Textile, is an alumni of NDUAT Faizabad, GBPUAT Pantnagar and CCS HAU Hisar,Haryana. She joined in the Department as an Assistant Professor and has 09 research papers and 01 chapter in books.
