Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDUGU) is pleased to announce that a Local Chapter of NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) has been established in DDUGU. NPTEL is an initiative of seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras & Roorkee) & Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc) for creating video & web course contents in engineering & science. There are 900+ web & video courses across 23 disciplines available for download & viewing on the NPTEL web site.
The students are invited to take advantage of this excellent opportunity. These programmes can be offered to enhance & substantiate the learning. Accordingly, one may offer these programmes as add-on certificates from the prestigious Institutes like IITs. However, if one wishes to obtain a certificate also, only the examination fees shall be payable. Thus, learning is free, though, the certificate has its cost. The entire policy is in tune with the Hon’ble Prime-Minister’s vision of imparting skills to the youngsters of the country.

Registration Fees: Registration is Free of Cost. Certification Fees:
- You will have to pay Rs.1000/- for all certification exams (except for exams on courses in programming).
- For exams on programming courses, the fees will be Rs.1250/-.

NPTEL Online Certification
NPTEL web & video courses across 23 disciplines are available on our portal archive.nptel.ac.in. In 2014 process of getting certified from NPTEL courses was initiated, so that learners get a tangible end result in the form of a certificate from the IITs/IISc for their effort.
Certification courses are offered twice a year (Jan-Jun, Jul-Dec). Joining a course is free. Anyone can learn from these courses anywhere anytime. No pre-requisites, no age limit, no entrance criteria to enroll.
Learning can be done by watching videos & this is tested by the weekly assignments, that are to be submitted online within the prescribed deadline. Any queries/doubts you may have, you can post in the respective discussion forum, which will be answered by the faculty & his/her team.
There is an optional proctored certification exam that the learner can take for a nominal fee at the end of the course to earn certificates from the IITs.
The main benefits of participating in an online course under NPTEL are:
