The outstanding research output of the department is indicated by publication of more than 2740 full research papers and 215 review articles in widely circulated international journals of good impact factors, since its inception. Active participation of the faculty members in more the 200 national and international conference and about a dozen books published by the faculty members indicate the vibrant academic life of the department. Since its establishment about 417 students were awarded Ph.D. and two were conferred D.Sc. in Zoology. Faculty members of the department have successfully completed many projects funded by national agencies like CSIR, UGC, UPCST, ICAR, ICMR, UPHE, DBT, DST and DOE.
The department has well equipped laboratories, an organized museum and Departmental library with good collection of books. Faculty members of the department are actively engaged in the corporate life of the university to maintain healthy and disciplined atmosphere in the university. The department has successfully conducted 4 international, 6 national conferences, 7 refresher courses, 5 short term workshops and all faculty members have been actively delivering lectures in different institutions, colleges and UGC-HRDC (Malviya Mission Teacher Training Programme).
Department of Zoology believes in carrying research from lab to land hence, following this theme it has been organizing farmer’s awareness programs on vermi-composting, Bio-pesticides and their uses. Celebration of world national science day, environment day, world ozone day, underground water conservation week, and wild life week etc. to initiate awareness about environmental issues is a regular feature of the department. At present, under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Ravi Kant Upadhyay department is striving forward towards excellence.
