The SC /ST cell of the University was established at the initiative of the University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi & the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2007. D.D.U. Gorakhpur University along with the Colleges & Institutes affiliated to the University comes under the purview of the Cell. The principal objective of this cell is to ensure the proper implementation of the constitutional provisions & Government orders regarding reservations to both Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes. It is also the responsibility of the cell to safeguard the interest of students, employees & teachers belonging to both Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes. The Cell also aims at making recommendations regarding the welfare & empowerment of Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribes to the university administration, State Government, University Grant Commission & Government of India. The office of SC/ST cell is on the first floor of the arts faculty. At present Prof. Shobha Gaur, Department of Education is the Coordinator of SC/ST Cell.
