FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE
Agriculture has been the main stray of Indian economy, providing the livelihood to about70% of the population of the country and contributing about 16% to the Gross Domestic Product. The inclusive growth of the country is only possible when the problems associated with the agriculture are dealt with priority and firm determination. Considering the importance of agriculture and the trained human resource, DDU Gorakhpur University established the Faculty of Agriculture with specific goals for providing better education standards and sustained agricultural growth to the community in the Gorakhpur and nearby districts. In the beginning, due to some reasons the Faculty of Agriculture had not been established in the main campus of the university, but teaching of agriculture at undergraduate and postgraduate level had been carried out in affiliated colleges of the university.
Due to untiring, sincere and dedicated effort of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Singh the Faculty of Agriculture has been established in the main campus of the university and commences its first batch in academic session2021-22. At present Dr. Vikram Shahi, B.R.D.P.G. College, Deoria is the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Prof. Ajay Singh, Department of Zoology is the Coordinator, Faculty of Agriculture at University Centre. In addition there are four Assistant Coordinators namely Dr. Nikhil Kant Shukla, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Ram Pratap Yadav, Department of Zoology; Dr. Kr. Sunita, Department of Botany and Mr. Deependra Mohan Singh, Department of Sociology.
1.Undergraduate degree in B.Sc. (Ag) and,
2. Postgraduate degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Entomology & Zoology and Agricultural Economics.
The programmes are comprehensive and provide students the knowledge to solve agricultural problems and also enables them to efficiently identify and design sustainable solutions to address local agriculture related issues and global opportunities. All the programmes of the faculty runs under self-financing mode.

Department of Zoology (Established in 1958, the Department maintains a high level of teaching andresearch in area of Entomology, Fisheries, Sericulture, Applied Entomology,Integrated Pest Management, Toxicology, Physiology, etc. The department hassanctioned strength of 18 teachers.
Department of Botany (Established in 1958, the Department maintains a high level of teaching and research in area of Plant Pathology, Environmental Pollution, Forest Ecology, Molecular plant Taxonomy, Tree Physiology, Nutraceuticals, Phycology, Plant Virology, Herbal Pesticides, Plant Physiology, Phytoplasma, etc. The department has sanctioned strength of 19 teachers.
Department of Chemistry (Established in 1956, the Department maintains a high level of teaching and research in area of Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Soil Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Enzyme Catalysis, Liquid Crystal Synthesis, etc. The department has sanctioned strength of 32 teachers.
Department of Biotechnology (Established in 2000, the Department offers a unique blend of high-quality teaching and rigorous student training. At present the following instrumental facilities are available like Gel Doc XR system PC version, UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer, PCR system, Incubator shaker, Autoclave, etc. The department has sanctioned strength of 7 teachers.
Department of Home Science (Established in 1983, the Department broadly cover areas of Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles, Resource Management, Human Development and Family Studies and Extension Education. The department has sanctioned strength of 7 teachers.
