DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE
The Departmentof Fine Arts and Music of D.D.U. GorakhpurUniversity Gorakhpur is situated in eastern belt of U.P. that cover the entire area ofwestern Bihar, eastern U.P. (Purvanchal) and Nepal. This department hasnational level artists in the field of Performing and visual Arts. They arecontributing of the field of Ideology, Philosophy and culture through Artexhibitions, Art Camps, Workshop and Demonstrations. Many of them had beenmember of different State Academy of Fine Arts (U.P. & Bihar) and U.P.Sangeet Natak Academy and other Socio – Cultural Organizations. At present, thePresident of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Uttar Pradesh, PadmaShri Dr. Rajeshwar Acharyahas been the former head of the department .
The departmentof Fine Arts and Music is profession oriented education center of ourUniversity, where everyone is looking for specialized educational programme aswell as holding of multi skills outputs in the era Art Education.
Thisdepartment have its own art Gallery in the name of famous lady painter AmritaSher-Gil (AMRITA KALA VITHIKA). Amrita Ji was associated with this area named“Sardarnagar”.
Handsome number of students andstaff members of this department are participating in International, National,State Level art Exhibitions, Art Camps and Workshop. The Staff members andstudents of this department have received many awards in concerning fields likeVisual Arts/ Music and Social Works.
