The UGC has been helping Universities and Colleges through several general as well as specific schemes to keep pace with the developments, it has been assisting the Universities for setting up Computer Centres since 1970 for Research and Training, applications of Computers in every field/subject and supporting the development of PGDCA, M.Sc. (Computer Science) and other programmes & computer application papers in several disciplines. The University Grant Commission (UGC) gave the important direction and permission to establish the Computer Centre in Lucknow, Allahabad, Kanpur, Gorakhpur and various other universities with some important Posts in the Year-1987.
The Computer Centre (now ITC cell) is the main hub of Computerization at DDU Gorakhpur University. Since 2013, the Centre is working on various aspects including campus networking with the coordination of the National Knowledge Network (NKN), data storage, online modules and student grievances. The Centre was also involved in various other work such as Computerization of Employees GPF Management through Allahabad Bank (University branch), University Employees computer training programs, Re-verification and analysis of the first B.Ed Combined test examination
The ITC cell is working with the plan to facilitate a data centre, high-performance computing facility, training centres, state-of-the-art servers, storage and various advanced application software. We are transforming the University campus into a Wi-Fi enabled e-campus and provide IT services.
To be recognized as a leader in providing world-class Information Technology usage at the education institution.
We intend to help our stakeholders (students, faculties, employees, Government and other associated organizations/people) to be informed and dedicated to providing information and IT facilities.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDUGU) Online Cell is one of the important cell of Information Technology & Communication (ITC) of the University, which provides critical online technology support to entire DDUGU community including all its colleges. The online cell is also committed to providing a safe, fair, and harmonious learning and work environment. DDUGU online cell has been established at the university in accordance with the University Grants Commission regulations 2012 (The Gazette of India, March 23-29, 2013), and Article XXV of the constitution. Online Cell manages central Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and services, including academic and collaborative applications, accessible technology, administrative systems and information management, Admission, Examination, E-pathshala, social media, computing infrastructure, ERP login, Grievance Redressal Cell, Data Storage and server Centre, information security and privacy, ITC services and strategic sourcing, technology process continuity and telecommunications
ITC cell data center serves a diverse group of intramural and administrators. The center supports administrative functions that are critical to the DDUGU mission. Data center infrastructure includes an extensive and diverse set of components, as well as the underlying architecture that enables these technologies. The center is essential to generate, manage and organize university data. Data center services of DDUGU typically deployed to protect the performance and integrity of the core data center components. Data storage management improves performance and protects against data loss. It also ensures that data is safe from outside threats, human error and system failures. Storage management of DDUGU also makes it easier by centralizing administration so they can oversee a variety of storage systems. These benefits lead to reduced costs as well, as admins are able to better utilize storage resources
The campus network at DDU Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur is a collection of teaching, research, administrative, educational administration and general management functions into one integrated network. It has inline waiyin function to meet including internet services, remote education services, electronic bulletin board and video conferencing and off campus (university affiliated colleges) data communication services and other requirements.
